ARC -Art Revisited Collective | New Symbols

The artistic collective ARC – Art Revisited Collective presents the 3rd edition of the “New Symbols” exhibition series and invites you to the opening on Friday, March 29th, from 19:00 to 22:00 at Luminous Eye Gallery (2A Mitsaion Street, Acropolis area, Athens 117 42), in collaboration with ARTgrID.

The exhibition is curated based on a concept-text co-signed by the Art Curators Paris Kapralos and Jason Kairofylas, developed in dialogue with the collective, with the participation of artists from Greece and abroad.

Visitors will see works of painting, engraving, photography, print digital art, collages, mosaics, sculptures, and video art. For the exhibition, a bilingual (Greek and English) digital souvenir catalog has been issued, available to all visitors free of charge.

In the documentation text, the Curators note: “In the late 19th century, the Symbolism movement spread throughout Europe, functioning as an antidote to the banality of the Realism of the era. Symbolism draws inspiration from the fantastical, shows paths to existential quests, and delves into philosophical subjects. It aims to engage the viewer with poetic and mysterious disposition. Beyond formalistic impressions, Symbolism provided the impetus for the emergence of modern art movements. In unprecedented historical circumstances, Art created powerful symbols to promote the dialectical relationship between Man and Historical Circumstance, posing poignant and incisive questions, addressing issues unconventionally, transcending the boundaries of social conventions, in order to indicate everything that is meaningful to us. The entirety of artistic production speaks symbolically, without necessarily fitting into the eponymous movement. In the challenging situations of our time, Art is required to promote reflection, generate new allegories, offering the New Symbols of Today.”

Exhibition with physical presentation of the artworks in Athens.

Hours/Days: Wednesday 14:00 to 18:00 and Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday 17:00 to 21:00. Admission is free. INSTAGRAM #arcgreece ΚΑΤΑΛΟΓΟΣ The exhibition catalogue is available for FREE, in Greek and English, for online viewing and/or download soon.

About ARC -Art Revisited Collective

The ARC – Art Revisited Collective was founded in May 2018 in Thessaloniki by visual artists and Athens-based art curator Paris Kapralos. It soon included members from various parts of Greece. The collective is independent and self-funded. It presents a variety of activities, organizes its own exhibitions, participates in international events, and occasionally collaborates with other groups, collectives, curators, venues, as well as artists from all realms of the arts and from around the world. The collective embraces every kind and style of art. Most members have had significant personal trajectories in the art world before joining as a collective entity. Through this platform, they unite their strengths in common projects and often respond in their own way, individually and collectively, to the challenges of the times.
