Lena Spania

Lena Spania was born in 1958 and studied architecture at the Polytechnic School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1976-1982). She worked as an architectural engineer (1983-2023) in Greece and abroad, focusing on the design of public and private buildings and participating in 31 architectural competitions, both national and international, winning a total of 28 awards and distinctions. Her main concern is the reduction of the perceptual volume of new buildings and the emphasis on the “significance” of their “particular meaning.” In 1990, after entrance exams, she attended the School of Fine Arts of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki for two years, with the aim of systematically and simultaneously engaging in painting and architecture, as well as exploring the way painting and architecture overlap and complement each other both as part of the synthetic process and as a means of expression. In 2012, she organized a solo painting exhibition in Cyprus. In 2023, she participated in 14 group thematic exhibitions in Athens and Thessaloniki.
