Nikiforos Tsekouras

Nikiforos Tsekouras expressed his love for painting from the age of two, transferring everything of interest to every surface, tables, walls, floors, furniture, etc. They were small stories or sketches of Cycladic statues, buildings (e.g., the Parthenon, museums, places we visited), animals, letters, numbers, etc. Often the canvas extended to his hands and body. He experienced everything at the limits of sensations as he is on the autism spectrum. To date, he has created 330 works of various dimensions (A4 to 110X140 cm) & varied themes mainly with acrylics. Painting for him is like breathing. The image arises effortlessly, as if it is in his mind waiting for the right moment to come out. It is a gift in his difficulty. Through it, he communicates via forms, colors, and the entire process of creation. He has exhibited a large body of his works in solo exhibitions and has been awarded prizes in national competitions.
