The Odyssey of the True Self

Luminous Eye Gallery (2A Mitsaion St., Acropolis area, Athens) is delighted to announce the upcoming exhibition “The Odyssey of the True Self,” conceived and curated by Art Curator Vera Katranidou, featuring the participation of visual artists from Greece and abroad. The exhibition will run from Friday, April 19th to Saturday, April 27th, 2024. The exhibition will also be accessible online through ARTgrID for one month.

In the documentation text of the report, Ms. Katranidou notes: “The connection between imagination and reality constitutes the axis of an inseparable relationship, which allows us to conceive new perspectives and solutions. In the Odyssey of the True Self, we recall Don Quixote, a timeless knight in contemporary times, whose narratives meet our quests for self-awareness in the toxic becoming of today’s society. Art, as a means of expressing imagination, shapes society towards the pursuit of truth and self-recognition. The contemporary Don Quixotes are the artists of our time, who through their visual creations, liberate our thoughts and urge us to seek our true selves. They contribute to the creation of a balanced and harmonious society, offering a substantial antidote to the disintegrated reality. Thus, the Odyssey of the True Self becomes a journey through imagination, where the mirror reveals new perspectives and the effort of change begins from personal truth. Through this journey, we realize that idealistic fantasies can transform society, revealing our true selves and encouraging the reconstruction of a better world“.
