Infinite Forms 5 | Hybrid Identities

Art Curator Paris Kapralos and 25 visual artists from Greece and abroad welcome you to the online edition of the exhibition “Hybrid Identities”. The exhibition was presented physically in Athens at Chili Art Gallery (Dimofontos 13-15, Thissio, Athens), from Friday, 18 September to Sunday, 27 September 2026, while this online edition will remain available until the end of October.

The 5th annual exhibition of Art Curator Paris Kapralos’ INFINITE FORMS initiative, this year entitled “Hybrid Identities”, explores hybridity as a fundamental process of cultural evolution, in which creative reuse combines disparate elements into new entities without erasing their origins.

Visitors will encounter works of painting, sculpture, photography, digital art, collage, video art, distinctive mixed-media techniques, ready-mades, and objets trouvés influenced by movements such as Arte Povera, making a visit to the exhibition a unique experience. 

The exhibition “Hybrid Identities” approaches upcycling as both a material practice and a cultural condition. Here, the hybrid is neither an exception nor an aesthetic peculiarity, but a fundamental way in which human culture evolves. Our era continually produces hybrids. Materials, technologies, cultures, images, and narratives combine, collide, and merge. Creative reuse is one of the most characteristic manifestations of this process. The exhibition explores how disparate elements can form a new entity without losing their origins. The artwork does not conceal its contradictions. It transforms them into a creative force. Here, upcycling is approached as the production of new cultural organisms. The old and the new, the natural and the artificial, the personal and the collective coexist within a single body. Contemporary art continually renegotiates the boundaries between the natural and the artificial, the handmade and the digital, the traditional and the contemporary, the local and the global, revealing that creation often emerges from the encounter between different worlds. Artists have always transformed difference into new entities. Perhaps this is one of art’s most important contributions to human culture.

Anastasia Vasileiou, Instant Meta_morphoses, Video Art

Anastasia Vasileiou is a philologist and visual artist. Guided by an interest in connecting art with education, she gained admission through qualifying examinations to the Department of Fine Arts and Art Sciences at the University of Ioannina, graduating with distinction. Her artistic practice moves between representations of reality and the surreal, seeking deeper meanings in the relationship between natural and psychological landscapes. Through painting, constructions and new media, she employs clean lines, structured forms and earthy or pastel tones, seeking to bridge language, image and lived experience. She has presented her work in group exhibitions and cultural events in Ioannina, as well as at the Archaeological Museum of Arta.

“In Levi, I explore the relationship between nature and technological reality, seeking the point where the organic meets the digital. I am interested in how simple algorithmic processes can generate forms reminiscent of living organisms, and how movement, sound, and environment continually transform their existence. Through this approach, I explore the tension between the conscious and the unconscious, the structured and the unpredictable, approaching technology as both a tool and a field of philosophical inquiry. For me, Levi is an allegory of human existence and the constant search for meaning, a reflection on our relationship with nature, technology, and the multiple forms of life.”

Isidoros D. Plakotaris (b. 1976, Chios) is an architect, restorer of ancient monuments, and digital artist based in Athens. He studied Architecture and Restoration of Ancient Monuments at the National Technical University of Athens and works on the restoration and enhancement of monuments and archaeological sites within the framework of projects undertaken by the Ministry of Culture. His work includes restoration studies for significant monuments throughout Greece, as well as the digital documentation and virtual reconstruction of historical phases of monuments and archaeological sites for museums and scholarly publications. Driven by his interest in the intersection of architecture, technology, and artistic creation, he completed the postgraduate programme “Digital Forms of Art” at the Athens School of Fine Arts. His artistic research focuses on computational processes, generative systems, and three-dimensional digital environments, exploring the emergence of organic forms through algorithmic structures and the relationship between natural phenomena and digital space. His work has been presented in exhibitions and animation festivals in Greece and Los Angeles. 

About the Curator, Paris Kapralos

Paris Kapralos is an Art Curator, Founder and Coordinator of the ARC – Art Revisited Collective, and Co-Publisher of Arts & Antiques CCR. Born in 1975, he was raised in Athens, where he lives and works. He studied Economics in Athens and Graphic Arts in Staffordshire, England. He worked as a journalist specialising in technology for financial newspapers, magazines, and online news agencies (1999-2006), then as an event management executive for business conferences in the Information Technology and Telecommunications sectors (2004-2011), before changing his professional direction and focusing on the field of art in 2011. He has curated and organised more than 200 exhibitions, visual arts initiatives, projects, and participations in Greece and abroad. More information is available on his website HERE.

About Chili Art Gallery

Chili Art Gallery was founded in 2010 and is located in Thissio, next to the City of Athens “Melina” Cultural Centre and just a short distance from Gazi, one of the city’s most vibrant areas. It is a cultural venue where art enthusiasts and the wider public can engage with all forms of contemporary art. Painting, sculpture, collage and mixed-media compositions, installations and constructions, printmaking and photography are presented on a monthly basis through solo and group exhibitions and events.
