Art Curator Paris Kapralos, in collaboration with 32 visual artists from Greece and abroad, presents the exhibition “Shelter” in support of shelters for abused women operated by the Greek Women’s Network of Europe.

The exhibition will take place at Chili Art Gallery (13–15 Dimofontos St., Athens). The opening will be held on Thursday 2 April, from 19:00 to 22:00.

Within the framework of the exhibition, the participating artists offer their works without financial compensation, so that all proceeds will be allocated to support the operation of shelters for abused women. Visitors to the exhibition may acquire works, some valued at several thousand euros, by submitting an offer for the amount they wish to contribute, with a minimum price of 100 euros.

Following the opening, the exhibition will remain open to visitors at the Athens art gallery on Friday 3 April, 11:00 – 18:00 and Saturday 4 April, 11:00 – 15:00, during which time interested parties may continue to submit their offers.

In addition to visitors attending the physical exhibition in Athens, those who wish to participate remotely may also submit offers through the ARTgrID platform. From 29 March, prior to the opening of the physical exhibition, all works are presented here on this website, where interested parties may begin submitting offers for the works they are interested in, starting from the minimum price of 100 euros and offering any amount they wish.

At the conclusion of the process, each work will be awarded to the highest bidder. All proceeds from the sale of the works will be allocated to support the uninterrupted operation of the shelters for abused women maintained by the Greek Women’s Network of Europe.

The present online edition of the exhibition will open for offers on Sunday 29 March and will remain available until Saturday 4 April at 22:00.

The exhibition includes 49 works of painting, sculpture, printmaking, calligraphy, digital art, photography and collage, generously offered in support of the cause by the visual artists Foti Kllogjeri, Anna Gerolymatou, Ingrid Kvale Kiran, Andreas Sinopoulos, Vincenzo Cohen, Georgios Roumeliotis, Julia Prikhodko, Maria Genitsariou, Jianing Zhao, Eleni Tsotsorou, Xinbo Zhang, Konstantina Maliarou, Angeliki Chatzistyliannou, Aung Myo Htet, Dimitris Galanakis, Woman the Creator, Olga Barmazi, Setsuko Chiba, Zoe Kalogianni, Mia Zhang, Chryssoula Demagou, Theodora Anagnostopoulou, Hao Ding, Manolis Bitzos, Roy Wang, Alkiviadis Vosdou, Lou Liska, Nikos Vavatsis, Eleni Karnezi, Luciano Caggianello, Nikolaos Seretis, Niki Roumpani.

Curator Paris Kapralos notes on the exhibition: “The exhibition “Shelter” brings together works by artists from Greece and abroad around the concepts of protection, care, and collective responsibility. At a time when support structures for abused women face serious challenges in maintaining their operation, art is activated as a field of solidarity and social response. The works presented in the exhibition function as gestures of support. Through their availability to the public, artistic creation becomes a tangible contribution to sustaining spaces of safety for women at risk. Shelter here is understood as both a physical place and a symbolic concept that connects art with protection, solidarity, and the possibility of a new beginning.

This initiative aims to engage the art audience around a direct and meaningful social cause. Through the participation of artists, visitors, and supporters, the exhibition “Shelter” seeks to transform the experience of art into an act of solidarity and active support for women who need a safe environment for protection and rebuilding their lives.

About the Hellenic Women’s Network of Europe
The Hellenic Women’s Network of Europe is a non-governmental civil society organization active in Greece, dedicated to promoting women’s rights, gender equality, and addressing gender-based and domestic violence. It operates with a strong volunteer-driven character, developing social interventions, awareness campaigns, and support services for women and families. Founded in the early 1980s, it is connected with broader European networks of organizations working toward equality and equal opportunities for women. Its mission is to strengthen the position of women in society and contribute to shaping policies and social practices that promote equality in Greece and across the European Union. Its work addresses issues of human rights, social justice, and the protection of women from violence and discrimination. At the same time, it provides direct support to women experiencing gender-based or domestic violence through the 24-hour SOS helpline “Dipla sou” at +30 210 9700814, for incidents of violence and human trafficking, offering psychological, social, and legal counseling. Within this framework, it operates temporary shelters for women who have experienced abuse and require immediate safe accommodation until further support and rehabilitation can be arranged. The network also organizes educational, social, and cultural activities aimed at raising awareness, preventing discrimination, and fostering a culture of equality. It participates in conferences, awareness campaigns, and collaborations with local authorities, organizations, and social institutions on issues such as gender-based violence, human trafficking, social inequalities, and equal participation of women in work and political life. Through these activities, it functions as an active social body advocating for women’s rights in Greece. More information: enowhumanrights.gr
