Summer

Art curator Paris Kapralos, in collaboration with visual artists from Greece and abroad, presents the exhibition “Summer”, concluding the 2025-26 exhibition season of the Athens-based Chili Art Gallery (13-15 Demofontos Street, Thissio, Athens), while simultaneously presenting the exhibition online in collaboration with ARTgrID.

The physical exhibition in Athens opened on July 2 and continues at the gallery. From July 20 until the exhibition closes on September 2, 2026, visits are available by appointment only. Appointments may be arranged by calling +30 210 7292564 or +30 693 675 5550.

This online edition of the exhibition runs concurrently with the physical exhibition in Athens.

The exhibition explores artistic interpretations of everyone’s favorite season of rest and renewal through the works of 22 visual artists.

Summer: a single word that holds childhood memories, endless hours of carefree freedom, the scent of the sea, and warm afternoons that seem to last forever. Summer holidays are far more than a simple break from everyday life. They are a deeply human necessity, an essential antidote to the pace of modern living. Perhaps it is because those first childhood holidays gave us something indelible: the experience of freedom and discovery. According to psychology, shared family experiences strengthen emotional bonds and reduce stress. Even in adulthood, summer offers us the luxury of doing nothing without guilt, allowing us to reconnect with ourselves, with nature, and with one another. This is not idleness. It is renewal. It is a cultural achievement. Perhaps the sweetest invention of modernity. Essential. Irreplaceable. Summer.

A bilingual commemorative exhibition catalogue-book (in Greek and English) has been published for the exhibition and is available free of charge to all visitors.

About the Curator Paris Kapralos

Paris Kapralos is an Art Curator, Founder and Coordinator of the ARC – Art Revisited Collective, and Co-Publisher of Arts & Antiques CCR. Born in 1975, he was raised in Athens, where he lives and works. He studied Economics in Athens and Graphic Arts in Staffordshire, England. He worked as a journalist specializing in technology for financial newspapers, magazines, and online news agencies (1999-2006), then as an event management executive for business conferences in the Information Technology and Telecommunications sectors (2004-2011), before changing his professional direction and focusing on the field of art in 2011. He has curated and organized more than 200 exhibitions, visual arts initiatives, projects, and participations in Greece and abroad. More information is available on his website HERE.

About Chili Art Gallery

Chili Art Gallery was founded in 2010 and is located in Thissio, next to the Melina Cultural Centre of the Municipality of Athens, just a short walk from the vibrant Gazi district. It is a cultural venue where art enthusiasts and the general public can engage with all forms of contemporary art. Painting, sculpture, collage and mixed-media works, installations, printmaking, and photography are presented through monthly solo and group exhibitions, as well as a variety of artistic events.
