Kinesthesia

Art curator Paris Kapralos presents at the EPsilon Art Gallery (Solomou 13, Loutraki, Corinth 20300) until Saturday, November 30, 2024, and simultaneously online, in collaboration with ARTgrID. The online version of the exhibition will extend beyond the physical one and will run until December 15, 2024.
The curatorial text notes: “The development of kinesthesia through writing and art enhances the ability to perceive and understand the environment and social symbols. The theory of embodied cognition supports that our cognitive processes play a central role in shaping thought and understanding. Writing and painting, which require fine and precise movements, strengthen this connection between body and mind. Kinesthetic feedback, cultivated through the practice of writing and painting, improves spatial perception, shapes, and proportions. This improvement is not only technical but also has significant cognitive and social implications. Those who develop strong kinesthetic skills gain access to a deeper understanding of the meanings and intentions of others, leading to a more cohesive society. Theorists such as George Lakoff and Mark Johnson (‘Metaphors We Live By’) have highlighted how the metaphors we use in our language often derive from bodily experiences, supporting the idea that our thinking and language are directly linked to our physical interactions with the world. Similarly, art becomes a powerful tool through which our bodily experiences can translate into deeper understanding and connection with our cultural and social environment“.

Exhibition with a physical presentation of the artworks in Loutraki.
