Despina Christou

Despina Christou was born in Nicosia. She is a graduate of the Athens School of Fine Arts, Department of Painting, with professors D. Kokkinidis and M. Spiliopoulos. She has held several solo exhibitions in Athens (a.antonopoulou.art), Nicosia (Apokalypsi), and Larnaca (Hotel Arion showroom). In 2018 and 2021, she participated in the International Biennale of Larnaca. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions in New York, Athens, Nicosia, etc. In 2001, she was selected among the seven young Greek artists for the DESTE-Athens Award. In 1999, at the meeting of young creators of the Vakalo School, she won the 3rd prize in painting. In 1998, she was awarded a commendation for the competition organized by Nea tis Technis. Additionally, Ms. Christou has collaborated with various theater groups in creating sets and costumes. In recent years, she has been involved in mural art. Her works are included in public, private, and corporate collections in Nicosia, New York, Athens, Prague, among others. She is a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece (EEKA) and EKATE Cyprus. She teaches Visual Arts in the Artistic Direction at high schools in Cyprus.
