Spyros Dimitriadis

Spiros Dimitriadis was born in Cyprus, studied in Prague at UMPRUM, Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design. In 1977, he returned to Cyprus as an academic painter specializing in animation. In 1979, he presented the film “Cypriot Metamorphoses” at the International Animation Film Festival in Annecy. Inspired by the urban landscape, the port, and the natural environment, he painted watercolors with a pen that he exhibited in group and solo exhibitions in Athens, Cyprus, and abroad. In 1984, he painted three watercolors in Monaco for an offshore company. Subsequently, with works in oil and collage, he criticized consumerism and the promotion of the insignificant as significant as expressed by the lifestyle presentations of the mass media. At the same time, he created animated drawings, book illustrations, set designs, commemorative coins for the Central Bank of Cyprus, and silk screens. He represented Cypriot artists at conferences and plein airs in Greece, Baghdad, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Spain, Constantinople, and Mexico. Recently, he has been digitally publishing works created on the computer.
