Revekka Gkiozi is a visual artist and a graduate of the Department of Fine and Applied Arts at the School of Fine Arts, University of Western Macedonia. She lives and works in Xino Nero, Florina. Her artistic practice focuses primarily on painting and explores the relationship between landscape, memory, observation and contemporary ways of seeing. In her series “Place Within”, she translates the logic of digital zoom into the painted surface, creating selected areas and inset elements that alter the way the image is perceived and interpreted. Through focusing, isolating and reconnecting individual elements, she examines how landscape is transformed from a visual experience into personal memory and an inner place.
