Open Call for entries is announced by the “Ink on Paper” initiative for the promotion of ink-based art, inviting visual artists interested in participating in its 11th International exhibition, which will take place at the Alma Mater art venue (Exarchia, the historical center of Athens, Greece) in October.

The exhibition is curated by Paris Kapralos.

The official languages of the exhibition are Greek and English, and all published material will be bilingual, including the commemorative exhibition catalog and the international online exhibition that will run concurrently with the physical one in Athens.

Eligible works for submission
Your submission may include paintings, engravings, ink drawings on paper, with all techniques accepted, such as—but not limited to—water-soluble media, Indian ink, line drawing, hatching, pointillism/stippling, wash drawing, brush work, contour drawing, calligraphy, lettering, collage, and sumi-e. Digital artworks and works created with the assistance of artificial intelligence are not accepted.

Who can submit
Artists aged 18 and over, regardless of nationality or place of residence, are eligible to submit their works and participate in the exhibition.

What to submit
You must send the following by email to inkonpapergr@gmail.com with the subject line ΜΕΛΑΝΙ 11:
(1) Photos of up to 2 available works, each in a separate jpg file, large in size, clear, and high-resolution. Note: the submitted works are final. If selected, only the submitted work(s) can be exhibited. Works on paper should be sent unframed and without glass.
(2) Details of the works, referencing each one by its file name (e.g., A1.JPG), listed in the following order, separated by commas: Artist’s full name, Title of the work, Medium and technique, Dimensions (in centimeters, Height X Width), Year of completion.
(3) Your contact details: Full name, Email, phone number, and place of residence (just write your city or village and regional unit if in Greece, or country if abroad).

Free framing option for the exhibition
If your submitted works are unframed and measure no more than 38×56 cm or 56×38 cm (half imperial paper size), and you are selected, you may send them by courier in an art tube to our partner. The organization will frame and deliver the works to the gallery free of charge. After the exhibition, the frames will be removed and your works will be returned in a tube as received.

Important notes
– Questions and clarifications strictly regarding the submission process must be sent in writing to the submission email above and will be answered within 24 hours.
– Information about the event and the proposal you will receive, if selected, will be provided only to selected artists after submission and selection—not before. Submissions missing required information or not following the requested format will be ignored.
– If selected, you will be contacted directly via a reply email with full details about your participation process.
– The submission deadline is not necessarily meant for creating new works; you may choose existing ones that represent you, are relevant to the theme, and that you wish to present in the exhibition.

About the “Ink on Paper” exhibition series
“Ink on Paper” is a visual arts initiative of exhibitions and events established by Art Curator Paris Kapralos in 2019. Its aim is to promote the use of a wide range of ink and paper-based media in visual arts in Greece, similar to practices abroad. Within this framework, exhibitions are held to highlight notable visual artists working with these media to the art-loving public, while also familiarizing and informing artists about the modern capabilities of these media, fostering collaborations inside and outside Greece, and more. About the Curator
Paris Kapralos is an Art Curator, Founder and Manager of the ARC – Art Revisited Collective, Founder of ARTgrID, and co-founder and publisher of Arts & Antiques CCR. He was born in 1975 and grew up in Athens, where he currently lives and works. He studied Economics (Athens) and Graphic Arts (Staffordshire, England). Initially, he worked as an Economic Journalist (1999–2006), later organized tech business conferences, and shifted his professional focus to the Art sector in 2011. Since then, he collaborated with the Myró Group (Myró Gallery, Myró Antiques House, Greek Marble Initiative, 2011–2017). From 2018 onward, he works independently as an organizer and curator of art exhibitions and events. He served as the representative of the Greek Branch of the International Watercolor Society (IWS) from 2019–2022. He has curated and organized more than 200 exhibitions, symposia, art projects, and participations in and outside of Greece. Detailed information can be found on his website HERE.
