Art Curator Paris Kapralos, in collaboration with 25 visual artists from Greece and abroad, invites you to visit the exhibition “Hybrid Identities” and attend its opening on Friday, 18 September, from 19:00 to 22:00.
The exhibition takes place physically in Athens at Chili Art Gallery (Dimofontos 13-15, Thissio, Athens) and concurrently online, in collaboration with ARTgrID.
The 5th annual exhibition of Art Curator Paris Kapralos’ INFINITE FORMS initiative, this year entitled “Hybrid Identities”, explores hybridity as a fundamental process of cultural evolution, in which creative reuse combines disparate elements into new entities without erasing their origins.
Visitors will encounter works of painting, sculpture, photography, digital art, collage, video art, distinctive mixed-media techniques, ready-mades, and objets trouvés influenced by movements such as Arte Povera, making a visit to the exhibition a unique experience.
The curatorial statement notes, among other things: “The exhibition “Hybrid Identities” approaches upcycling as both a material practice and a cultural condition. Here, the hybrid is neither an exception nor an aesthetic peculiarity, but a fundamental way in which human culture evolves. Our era continually produces hybrids. Materials, technologies, cultures, images, and narratives combine, collide, and merge. Creative reuse is one of the most characteristic manifestations of this process. The exhibition explores how disparate elements can form a new entity without losing their origins. The artwork does not conceal its contradictions. It transforms them into a creative force. Here, upcycling is approached as the production of new cultural organisms. The old and the new, the natural and the artificial, the personal and the collective coexist within a single body. Contemporary art continually renegotiates the boundaries between the natural and the artificial, the handmade and the digital, the traditional and the contemporary, the local and the global, revealing that creation often emerges from the encounter between different worlds. Artists have always transformed difference into new entities. Perhaps this is one of art’s most important contributions to human culture.“.

Plakotaris, Despoina Moschou, Kyriakos Savvakis, Sieglinde Grunwald, Konstantinos Vais, Katerina Vagianou, Alexandra Kontodima, Dimitrios Gougopoulos, Giorgos Vasilakis, Argyri Vasilakou Gerakarakou, Spyros Paltoglou, Ilias Liakakos, Tatiana Koniak, Konstantinos Gougoufkas, Natasa Kontouli, Nikolas Kouvakas.
A bilingual commemorative catalogue-book, in Greek and English, has been published for the exhibition and is available free of charge to all visitors.

About the “Infinite Forms” exhibition series
“Infinite Forms” is a series of international exhibitions conceived by Art Curator Paris Kapralos, exploring the material and conceptual recycling of human culture through art. The series was launched in 2023 and presents one exhibition each year, with the aim of introducing a wider audience to artists who create works through creative reuse and/or whose work explores the reconceptualisation and new interpretation of elements and images of Culture.
