Wednesday, 23rd of June, 2021 – The first Greek online platform for professional services in the field of Art, ARTgrID, officially commences its operation, with the ambition to contribute positively to the transition of the business sector into the new era. Its goals include the international promotion of contemporary art from the Greek-speaking world, with an emphasis on Greece and Cyprus, to the global audience, and a proactive response to the challenges of our times.
The vision of its founders is to empower visual artists through a systematic approach to engage with the local and international art-loving community. The founders of ARTgrID view Art as a universal good, and the internet as a valuable arena for transparency, equal opportunities, and access to the treasures of Culture.
In this context, ARTgrID provides artists with innovative methods of exposure, while professionals in the field (Museums, Art Spaces, Curators / Exhibition Organizers, Symposia and Visual Arts Festivals) can transform and host their exhibitions and events digitally. The platform transforms physical exhibitions into digital ones, maximizing their visibility and targeting the Greek-speaking audience on an international scale. Moreover, starting from September 2021, ARTgrID will launch a full English version, offering its services in a bilingual environment. Additionally, ARTgrID offers services of organization, promotion, and sales to collectives, associations, and artistic groups, organizing physical exhibitions and digital initiatives.
Simultaneously, within ARTgrID, a community of selected Greek and Cypriot visual artists is being developed with the aim of showcasing them to both domestic and international audiences. The company has developed a special typology for artists’ profiles, in line with international best practices for creating personal websites. These profiles stand out for their completeness and substitute the need for artists to create individual websites, offering enhanced multimedia capabilities and content aggregation systems that ensure maximum exposure and targeted communication with an interested audience for the artist. The platform is currently in the process of developing this community, thus extending an open invitation to every visual artist to submit their works, CV, and contact details, if interested in creating a personal profile on the platform.
