Michail Moumtzis was born in Zografou in 1963 and hails from Macedonia (the Serres region). After living in various cities across Greece, he now resides permanently in his hometown and works professionally in the fields of Economics and Informatics. He is self-taught and, in recent years, with more free time at his disposal, has devoted himself almost entirely to painting, “experimenting” with various subjects and techniques to make up for lost time. As he often says, he “practices the Art of Painting, primarily with Watercolor.” His works focus on natural landscapes, the sea with its ships, “journeys,” the vivid colors of the “Golden Hour,” as well as urban landscapes, either those he frequents daily or those he dreams of exploring. He has participated in group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. His work has been significantly influenced by Panagiotis Tetsis, Paris Prekas, and contemporary watercolor artists such as Joseph Zbukvic, Alvaro Castagnet, and Herman Pekel.
