Michael Moumtzis

Michail Moumtzis was born in Zografou in 1963 and hails from Macedonia (region of Serres). After wandering through various cities in Greece, he has settled permanently in his hometown. He is a graduate of A.S.O.E.E. and Control Data, active in the fields of Economics and Information Technology. Being self-taught, in recent years, with more free time for contemplation, exploration, and search, he felt the need to dedicate himself almost entirely to art, making up for lost time. As he often says, he “practices” in the art of watercolor painting. His subjects predominantly feature natural landscapes, the sea with its boats, the concept of “journey,” the intense colors of the “Golden Hour,” and urban landscapes where he moves daily or wishes to explore. Influences on his work include Panagiotis Tetsis, Paris Prekas, and contemporary watercolorists such as Joseph Zbukvic, Alvaro Castagnet, and Herman Pekel.
