Odysseas Dimos began engaging with art after the age of 40. His first experiences with art date back to his early childhood, when his father—a painter and visual artist—would take him into nature, where he made his first charcoal sketches. A long period followed during which sports and academic pursuits set aside his artistic inclinations. His studies in Psychology and Cognitive Neurosciences, as well as his professional experience with human behavior and emotion in both typical and non-typical populations, enriched his interpretive insight and expressive need. He began with painting, where oppositional colors and conceptual representation of forms play a dominant role, with central themes of joy and sorrow, birth and death, warmth and cold. Later, out of a need to explore and expand his expressive tools, he turned to ceramics and basic three-dimensional geometric shapes. Finally, through sculpture and the nude form, he seeks to portray the beautiful yet perishable human body—the original source of all emotions, behaviors, and thoughts.
