Maria Papatrecha (Margia) is a secondary education teacher, with studies in Food and Nutrition, Pedagogy, Ageing and Chronic Illness, as well as in the animation of children and adults and creative activities at ANIMA. She is self taught in painting, however her artistic education was shaped through the Hellenic Centre of Art and Culture of Antonis Kourtikakis, Art Historian and Painter, during her three year apprenticeship there, where she was taught art history, watercolour, oil painting, sculpture, and more. She grew up in a creative household. Alongside her mother she embraced the arts of weaving and embroidery. Thus, her painting becomes allied with these arts in a beautiful harmony, full of Greek freshness, light, and beauty. In addition to her paintings and jewellery, she has developed collections inspired by the beauty of Greek culture and nature, which continue to be enriched. Her work includes four solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions. She is married and the mother of three children.
