John Karatzas was born in 1967 in Australia. From an early age, one of his favorite excursions was visiting the National Gallery of Melbourne where their collections intrigued and inspired. Apart from his full time occupation as a designer, he was one of the original founders of Bus Gallery, established with a group of friends in Melbourne for supporting emerging artists. He moved to Greece in his mid-30s, where he’s continued to live and create. Trained as an industrial designer—a field grounded in technical precision and structure across both hand-rendered and computer-based 3D imagery—John has always turned to painting as a personal refuge. It’s where he feels free to explore creative impulses without the constraints of perfection or commercial expectations.
