Michail Moumtzis was born in Zografou in 1963. His roots are in Macedonia (Serres region). After traveling and living in various cities in Greece, he now resides permanently in his hometown and works professionally in the fields of Finance and IT. He is self-taught and, in recent years, with more free time, has dedicated himself almost entirely to painting, “experimenting” with different subjects and techniques to make up for lost time. He says he is “practicing” the art of painting, primarily using watercolor. His work often depicts natural landscapes, the sea with its ships, “journeys,” the vibrant colors of the “Golden Hour,” and urban landscapes he moves through daily or wishes he could. He has participated in group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. His work is influenced by Panagiotis Tetsis, Paris Prekas, and contemporary watercolorists such as Joseph Zbukvic, Alvaro Castagnet, and Herman Pekel.
