The Art Curator Paris Kapralos, in collaboration with visual artists, presents the exhibition “Nameless Journeys” at Alma Mater gallery (62, Emmanouil Benaki St., Exarchia, Athens). This exhibition is an artistic response to the dramatic rise in forced displacement in our era, shedding light on the unseen paths and human stories behind the statistics.
The opening event will take place on Thursday, July 10, from 19:00 to 22:00.
The exhibition features painting, drawing, photography, wall-mounted constructions, and video art.
The exhibition is held physically in Athens at Alma Mater from Thursday, July 10 to Sunday, July 20, 2025, and simultaneously online, in collaboration with ARTgrID.
In his curatorial note, Mr. Kapralos writes: “Every journey has a beginning, a destination, and a story. And yet, there are journeys that remain invisible—without name, without map, without testimony. They are the paths of those who move silently among us, leaving behind homes, identities, memories—driven out and abused en masse or individually. Carrying collective and personal traumas that most people find hard to comprehend, let alone imagine overcoming. ‘Nameless Journeys’ do not speak only of movement. They speak of the search for meaning, the struggle to exist where one has never belonged. hey have no face because they were never given the right to stand still long enough to gain one. They speak of the fear of rejection, the insecurity of waiting, the fatigue of endless ‘after’. These journeys carve through unknown roads, lands that promise nothing but the hope of survival. Nameless does not mean faceless. Behind every step is a decision. Behind every silence, a scream that was never heard. In ‘Nameless Journeys’ we observe the unseen—where visibility is not a given. People at a threshold: between earth and sky, past and present, familiar and foreign. Many will never be recorded. They will never meet normality. They may never find a place to stand without fear. Let us make space for these nameless journeys—not to name them, but to respect them. To look upon them as one looks at the horizon: with uncertainty, with hope, and with the deep awareness that somewhere out there, someone keeps walking.”

About Alma Mater
“Alma Mater” is an art space located in the heart of Athens, in Exarchia. It is housed in a renovated neoclassical residence built before 1890. The space aims to function as an “alma mater” for the intellectual and aesthetic evolution of the city. Beyond exhibitions, it also hosts events and is equipped accordingly.
