Thursday, October 10, 2024 – The community of the initiative Ink On Paper, which highlights visual artists whose primary media of expression are ink and paper, announces the participation of Pepi Karagiannaki.
Pepi Karagiannaki was born, lives, and works in Thessaloniki. She graduated from the School of Fine Arts at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH). She is a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece, the Association of Visual Arts Educators, and serves in various positions on the Board of the Alumni Association of the Thessaloniki School of Fine Arts. She has presented her work in Greece and abroad, where her artworks can also be found. She was awarded a prize and a medal by the Union of Greek Writers and was one of the artists who represented Greece at the Drawing Biennale in Skopje in 2023.
In her artistic statement, she notes about her work: “The works presented are part of the series ‘mind the trap’. They are ball pen drawings on paper using available ink colors. The series refers to various types of traps, sometimes tangible and sometimes imagined—within a reality that may be physical or fantastical and that shapes our daily lives. Traps we set for ourselves or others set for us, pre-existing ones or those built from the circumstances of the moment. A common feature is the visible exit through the rupture of the trap, offering the possibility that remaining within it is purely a matter of choice.”
