In an artistic statement accompanying the announcement of her joining the community, Ms. Kolovou notes:
“My work constitutes a contemplative exploration of human nature and ephemeral existence. With watercolor and blue tones, the works acquire a watery sensation—fleeting and transparent—like water that is constantly shaped, leaving behind the traces of a moment. Repetition is a structural element, functioning as a symbolic heartbeat, a constant reminder of the laws governing the human organism and our daily existence. Through repeated movements, patterns, and Prussian blue, I attempt to capture the rhythm of life, which at times aligns harmoniously and at others carries the weight of discord and the unknown. The works speak of the duality of life and death, the dialogue between the fragile and the eternal. Within the watery transparency lies the uncanny, the cold climate we often experience emotionally or empirically, like a fine line between consciousness and loss. Rhythm, repetition, transparency, and water become narrative tools in my work. My dedication to this process aims to unite the fragments that make us whole, to reveal the beauty of mortality, and to highlight the balance between the transient and the constant—seeking to touch the eternal within the ephemeral.”
