The art curator Paris Kapralos, in collaboration with watercolor artists from Greece and abroad, invites you to visit the exhibition “Color in Water 11 | Spring” and to honor the opening with your presence on Thursday, May 8, from 19:00 to 22:00. The exhibition takes place physically in Athens at the art venue Chili Art Gallery (Dimofontos 13–15, Thiseio, Athens), and simultaneously online in collaboration with ARTgrID.
As noted in the curatorial text: Watercolor, also known as aquarelle, flourished during the 19th century, a time when artists were rediscovering the magic of the natural landscape. With the advent of Romanticism, art was no longer confined to academic depictions; nature became the protagonist! Painters, inspired by the changing seasons, captured landscapes teeming with light and color. Spring—with its pink cherry blossoms, green meadows, and crystal-clear streams—was a favorite subject. The translucent colors of watercolor brought these images to life, conveying a sense of freshness and renewal. Artists like Turner and Constable uniquely depicted the atmosphere of the era. Even today, watercolor remains synonymous with spring. It is the perfect technique to express the airy, ephemeral beauty of nature, reminding us that every moment is a small work of art.
