Wednesday, February 12, 2025 – Bulgarian visual artist Daniela Nikolova, who lives and works in Greece, is the newest member of the emerging community of the action platform Ink On Paper, which highlights visual artists whose primary media of expression are ink and paper.
Daniela Nikolova was born and raised in Sofia, Bulgaria. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts, she worked as a painter and makeup artist for private television. In 2003, she got married and moved to Ptolemaida, where she devoted herself to her family and their two children. Since 2012, she has run the visual arts workshop “Peri Technis,” where she teaches painting. She organizes successful art events and widely embraced festivals for the children of Eordaia, such as “Let’s Paint the Largest Egg in Greece”—a one-of-a-kind event in the country. Over the past 10 years, horses have taken center stage in her work, earning her awards and distinctions. Her work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. Two of her pieces are part of the personal collection of the King of Bahrain.
In her artistic statement, she emphasizes about her work: “I’m constantly in search, depending on what I want to capture and the aesthetic emotion I aim to evoke in the viewer. I want to bring my soul out into the light, for others to love it—and why not, to identify with it. I create not only to express myself but also to ‘communicate’. What matters most to me is a personal stamp that is immediately recognizable and serves as a visual signature. In my works, movement and silence coexist harmoniously, aiming to convey my emotional relationship with the Horse. After years of combining my art with horses and evoking deep emotion through color, brushwork, and texture, I felt the need to move forward, to create something new and bold. The idea was powerful—the soul of the horse captured on special handmade paper, with its own signature—its own DNA. The ‘black gold,’ as many call it, has been used by humans for centuries. This new series is the result of my creative revolution, paving a new path full of endless possibilities.”
