Katerina Stergiopoulou was born and raised in Athens, where she lives and works. A self-taught painter, she began her artistic journey with pencil drawing before gradually turning to colour and brush painting, discovering new avenues of creative expression. She works primarily with acrylics, while also experimenting with oils and the creation of textured surfaces. She holds undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Sociology and Psychology from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, studies that have deepened her interest in human experience, emotion and the inner world. Her work explores the relationship between colour, light and materiality, as well as contrasts and the emotional power of the image. Her participation in the exhibition “The Gesture Before the Word” marks her first appearance in a group exhibition.
