Maria Giannopoulou was born in Komotini and grew up in Athens, where she continues to live. She graduated from the Department of Aesthetics at the Technological Educational Institute (TEI) of Athens and completed an internship in Belgium through a scholarship. She also studied piano at the National Conservatory. In recent years, painting has become her principal means of artistic expression and personal exploration. For the past seven years, she has attended painting classes under the guidance of a teacher who graduated from the Athens School of Fine Arts. She has also pursued dance, mountaineering, diving and martial arts, activities that have broadened the way she observes and perceives the world and influence her artistic practice. She has participated in 11 group exhibitions and received an honorary distinction in a nationwide painting competition. Her works are held in private collections.
