Paolo Alessandro Corbidge was born in Cyprus in 1961 and spent his childhood in Cyprus, Greece and Italy. He studied architecture in Venice and lived and worked in Milan for many years. In 2006, he returned to Cyprus, where he practises as an architect in Nicosia. He has been involved in photography since his student years, pursuing it more systematically in recent years. Photography provides him with an outlet for greater freedom and experimentation beyond the constraints of everyday architectural practice. His lens seeks out images and geometries, often through abstraction, subconsciously incorporating many of the elements that have moved him within contemporary visual culture and art. At the same time, he critically observes and documents the city, architecture and transformations of the landscape. He is interested in stark contrasts and in elements that appear overtly temporary or peripheral, yet persist over time and within space. Since 2017, he has been a member of the Fotodos Photography Society in Nicosia and has participated in group exhibitions. In 2019, he presented a solo exhibition in Limassol.
