Giannis Artinopoulos was born in Nafpaktos in 1940 and moved to Belgium in 1952, where he completed his studies in Architecture, graduating with the distinction Grande Distinction. He worked as an architect on major projects in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Spain, and Africa. At the same time, he studied painting in Brussels, where he met leading Belgian artists and trained under the renowned Surrealist painter René Magritte. With Magritte’s encouragement and support, he presented successful solo exhibitions, developing his own distinctive artistic identity. Since 1981, he has lived permanently in Nafpaktos, dedicating himself entirely to painting. His work focuses on the human condition, social inequalities, love, and timeless emotions, expressing these themes with sensitivity and introspection. Through a luminous colour palette and restrained means of expression, he seeks to inspire thought, emotion, and personal reflection in the viewer.
