Gianna Derri worked as a philologist and psychologist in psychoeducational structures in public education. She was seconded to the Asylum Service of the Ministry for Citizen Protection and retired as Head of Health Education at the Directorate of Secondary Education of Eastern Thessaloniki. She holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and a PhD in Pedagogy from the Department of Early Childhood Education at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She trained for seven years in workshops, learning drawing, charcoal, pastels, and oil painting. Watercolour fascinated her from early on. She took drawing and painting lessons at the “Megas Alexandros” workshop of the Municipality of Edessa with painter Stelios Moussidis, as well as iconography classes at the Church of Panagia Dexia and at YMCA Thessaloniki. In the 2000s, she continued her art studies at the YMCA workshop and later studied watercolour technique under Serbian engraver Dragisa Cosic. She has presented her work in three group exhibitions and one solo exhibition. Watercolour is the technique she loves most.
