Giorgos Valvis was born in Piraeus in 1976. At the age of eighteen, he completed his studies in graphic arts at the 4th Technical Vocational School of Athens. His artworks are mainly inspired by Ancient Greece and the Renaissance, which he typically renders using ink, acrylics, and oils. The perspective he chooses to present his subjects is often unconventional. As an artist, he deliberately allows “mistakes” to remain in his works, as a way to remind himself that his creations are authentic. Giorgos Valvis opposes modern forms of expression and thus prefers classical painting. At the same time, he has experimented with other techniques such as Cubism and engraving. He has also worked with wood carving. His artistic career is diverse, including work in comics, fairy tales, book illustrations, clothing designs, and more. He has participated in group painting exhibitions in Athens, Tinos, Syros, Thessaloniki, Cyprus, and Corfu.
