Friday, January 3, 2025 – Alina Victoria Nouridou is the newest member of the emerging community on the action platform Ink On Paper, which highlights visual artists whose primary media of expression are ink and paper.
Alina Victoria Nouridou is an artist from Russia. Born in 1978 in the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, she repatriated to Greece in 2000 and settled in Thessaloniki. A graduate of an economics school (Russia) and of Greek language studies (Greece), she decided to turn to the field of art. She studied painting at Eleni Vania’s workshop and completed theoretical courses in “History of Western Art” at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She collaborates as a cover designer and visual artist with rock bands, as well as in book illustration. Using mixed media to realize her ideas, Victoria explores the depths of the human soul, drawing influence from official art, philosophy, and metaphysics. Her works invite a conscious engagement with the inner world.
In her artistic statement, she emphasizes about her work: “If the sleep of reason creates monsters, then what does the sleep of the soul create? Searching for answers in the realms of art, philosophy, science, and metaphysics, I turn my visions of the world into painted images. My art is an invitation to a kind of ‘regression’ to lost origins. My method functions through immersion into the ‘mirror rooms’ of the subconscious, where the bottom becomes the foundation of spiritual growth, and self-definition equals catharsis. The metaphorical meanings of the works gain the power of a direct message at the moment of the viewer’s identification with the image—like the beginning of an inner dialogue. Working with mixed media, I prefer ink as the main material because of its magical ability to manifest the ‘void of silence’—a necessary condition for diving into my creations. Believing in free will, I want to highlight that a conscious stance toward the world and ourselves defines our Destiny.”
