Pela Kalogirou began working with ceramics in 1992 in a workshop in Faenza, Italy. She lived and studied in the Netherlands for several years alongside major figures in art and contemporary ceramics. She experimented with various materials, but clay captivated her from the start. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Greece and abroad, held two solo exhibitions, and is preparing for her third. She has created installations in public spaces with environmental and social messages. She has collaborated with theatre and film directors, creating or lending works for productions. She has designed awards for short film festivals. One of her works appears on the cover of a book. She continues to experiment with forms, material combinations, and natural kilns. She is deeply concerned with expressing her inner truth. She has visited war zones and is a wildlife rescuer. She lives, breathes, and creates on a hill above the Ionian Sea, where she maintains her studio.
