Conceptual Framework. In 2000, the United Nations General Assembly, with resolution 55/76, designated June 20 as World Refugee Day, starting in 2001, which marked the 50th anniversary of the 1951 Refugee Convention. Every journey has a beginning, a destination, and a story. Yet some journeys remain invisible—without a name, without a map, without testimony. These are the paths of those who move silently among us, leaving behind homes, identities, memories—fleeing mass or individual persecution and violence. With collective and unspoken traumas, often beyond comprehension, their stories go unheard.

World Refugee Day is not just a symbol; it is a moment to create space for collective empathy.

“Nameless Journeys” are not only about displacement. They speak of the search for meaning, of the struggle to exist where one never has before. These journeys have no face because they were never given the time or the right to stand still long enough to acquire one. They speak of the fear of rejection, the insecurity of waiting, the fatigue of constant “after.” Paths carved through unknown roads, in lands that promise nothing beyond the hope of survival.

Nameless does not mean faceless. Behind every step is a decision. Behind every silence, a cry unheard. In “Nameless Journeys,” we observe the unseen—where visibility is not a given. People who stand at the threshold: between earth and sky, past and present, familiar and foreign. Many will never be recorded. They may never meet normality. They may never find a place to stand without fear.

Let us give space to these nameless journeys. Not to name them, but to respect them. To gaze upon them as one gazes toward the horizon: with uncertainty, with hope, and with the deep awareness that somewhere out there, someone keeps moving forward.
