Michalis Devanakis is a visual artist whose primary medium of expression is painting. He was born and raised in Douala (Cameroon) in 1962 to Greek parents. He studied Graphic Arts and Advertising in France. His artistic journey was further enriched through years of private studies in Art wherever he lived. Having resided and worked in multiple countries (France, Bermuda, Mexico, Canada), he eventually settled in Greece in 1997, where he established his own graphic design and illustration company. In 2001, he created “filaki.gr,” the largest humorous website in Greece, focusing on illustrated greeting cards designed by him and other artists. His first participation in a group exhibition took place in Bermuda in 1987 when he was 25 years old. In 2013, he gradually withdrew from his other professional activities to dedicate himself to painting on a more permanent basis. His multicultural background is the central driving force behind his creative approach. He has exhibited his work in Greece and internationally, with his artworks held in private collections in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Italy. Today, he makes a living exclusively from his artistic practice. Michalis is a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece (EETE) and has been collaborating with the visual artists’ collective ARC – Art Revisited Collective since March 2024.
