Maria Zavitsanou

Maria Zavitsanou was born in Athens in 1975. In 1999, she began her studies at the School of Fine Arts “Pietro Vannucci” in Perugia, Italy, where she studied painting in the studio of Sauro Cardinali and graphic arts with Marilena Scavizzi and Wilma Lok. In 2004, she graduated from the School with honors. The same year, she began postgraduate studies at the same School, focusing on visual arts and visual sciences, with a specialization in graphic arts. In 2007, she completed her postgraduate studies with honors. At the same time, she participated in illustrating a poetry collection by the Italian poet Sandro Penna. Since September 2009, she has been working as an art educator. She is a member of the EETE (Greek Engravers and Printmakers Association) and the Union of Greek Printmakers. Her works are included in permanent collections in the Czech Republic (Rokycany) and Japan (Kiwa). She has participated in numerous exhibitions in Greece and abroad. In 2008, she participated in the IV International Biennial of Graphic Arts in Rokycany, Czech Republic, where she was honored with the Cena Města Rokycany award.
