The “Ink on Paper” initiative, dedicated to promoting ink-based art, is issuing an international open call inviting visual artists to submit their works for participation in its 13th exhibition of the same name, which will take place at Chili Art Gallery in Athens.<\/p>

The exhibition is curated by Paris Kapralos<\/strong>.<\/p>

The official languages of the exhibition are Greek and English, and all published material will be bilingual, including the exhibition’s commemorative catalogue-book and the online exhibition, which will run concurrently with the physical exhibition in Athens.<\/p>

Works you can submit. <\/strong>Your submission may include works of painting, printmaking, and ink drawing on paper, with all related techniques accepted, including, indicatively but not exclusively, water-soluble media, India ink, line drawing, hatching, pointillism\/stippling, wash drawing, brush work, contour drawing, calligraphy, lettering, collage, and sumi-e.<\/p>

Theme<\/strong>. The exhibition has an open theme, and the selection criterion is the artistic quality and execution of the work, regardless of style, subject matter, or the artist’s biography.<\/p>

Who can submit. <\/strong>Artists aged 18 or over may submit works and participate in the exhibition, regardless of nationality or place of residence.<\/p>

What you need to submit. <\/strong>Please send an email to inkonpapergr@gmail.com<\/a><\/strong> with the subject line INK <\/strong>and include the following:
(1) Photographs of up to 2 available works, with each work submitted as a separate image file, in large-format JPG with good clarity and high resolution. Please note: the submitted works are not indicative. If selected, you may exhibit exclusively the work or works you submitted. Works on paper must be photographed without a frame\/glass.
(2) Details of the works, using the corresponding file name (e.g. A1.JPG) as a reference for each work. The information should be listed in the following order, separated by commas: Artist’s full name, Title of work, Materials and technique, Dimensions (in centimetres, Height X Width, or, in the case of an object\/sculpture, Height X Width X Length), Year of completion.
(3) Your contact details: Full name, Email, telephone number, and place of residence (city or village and region if you live in Greece, or country if you live abroad).<\/p>

Important notes<\/strong>
\u2013 Clarifications, queries, and questions strictly concerning the submission process should be sent in writing by email to the submission address above and will be answered within 24 hours.
\u2013 Information regarding the organisation of the exhibition and the participation proposal that will be made if you are selected will be provided exclusively to selected artists after submission and selection, not before. Submissions that do not include all the requested information, or do not follow the specified format and submission procedure, will be disregarded.
\u2013 If you are selected, we will contact you promptly by reply email with full information about the procedures for your participation.
\u2013 The submission period is not necessarily intended for the creation of new works. You may submit existing works that you feel represent you, are relevant to the exhibition, and that you would like to present within its context.<\/p>

About the “Ink on Paper” exhibition series<\/strong>
“Ink on Paper” is an initiative encompassing visual arts projects, exhibitions, and events, established by Art Curator Paris Kapralos in 2019 with the aim of promoting the use of a broad range of ink- and paper-based media in the visual arts in Greece, in line with international practice. The initiative organises exhibitions aimed both at introducing noteworthy visual artists working with these media to art enthusiasts and at familiarising and informing artists about the contemporary possibilities offered by these media, fostering collaborations in Greece and abroad, and more. About the Curator<\/strong>
Paris Kapralos is an Art Curator, Founder and Coordinator of the ARC – Art Revisited Collective<\/a><\/strong>, Founder of ARTgrID<\/a> <\/strong>, and Co-Founder & Publisher of Arts & Antiques CCR<\/a><\/strong>. Born in 1975, he was raised in Athens, where he lives and works. He studied Economics in Athens and Graphic Arts in Staffordshire, England. He initially worked as a journalist covering financial and business affairs (1999-2006), subsequently became involved in organising technology business conferences, and changed his professional direction in 2011 to focus on the field of art. He later collaborated with the Myr\u03cc<\/a> <\/strong>group (Myr\u03cc Gallery, Myr\u03cc Antiques House, Greek Marble Initiative, 2011-2017). Since 2018, he has worked independently as an organiser and curator of visual arts exhibitions & events. From 2019 to 2022, he served as the representative of the Greek branch of the International Watercolor Society (IWS). He has curated and organised more than 200 exhibitions, symposia, visual arts initiatives, projects, and participations in Greece and abroad.
