Tuesday, September 23, 2025<\/strong> \u2013 The community of the initiative Ink On Paper<\/strong><\/a>, which aims to highlight visual artists who primarily use ink and paper as their main forms of expression, welcomes the visual artist Giorgos Valvis<\/strong> as a new member.<\/p>

Giorgos Valvis, born in Piraeus in 1976, showed his talent from a very young age. At the age of eighteen, he completed his studies in Graphic Arts at the 4th Technical Vocational School of Athens. His works are mainly inspired by Ancient Greece and the Renaissance. The angles he chooses are unconventional, something he places particular emphasis on. As a person, he prefers classical painting, while he has also experimented with other techniques. He has also engaged in woodcarving. His career in the art world is multidimensional. It includes comics, fairy tales, book illustrations, clothing designs, book writing, music, and lyrics. He has also worked on theater stage designs and has written a musical theater play. Giorgos began participating in art exhibitions and since then has presented his work in Athens, Tinos, Syros, Thessaloniki, Cyprus, and Corfu. His style is considered Renaissance-inspired, which he usually expresses through ink, but also with acrylics or oils.<\/p>

In his artistic statement, he notes: “I always liked, as an artist, creating technically challenging paintings. I started using ink at a young age, trying to approach the feel of engraving through drawing. From that moment on, everything I wanted to depict, I envisioned with ink. As a visual artist, I tried many techniques and materials, but ink on paper was always a challenge for me \u2014 one that has remained to this day. The subjects I choose as a visual artist are mainly statues, religious themes, and faces. I prefer ink because it is a difficult medium with the technique I use, which is mainly straight lines drawn with a ruler, and only in rare cases, depending on the subject, with freehand lines \u2014 always lines.<\/em>“<\/p>
