Monday, March 3, 2025<\/strong> \u2013 Visual artist Christina Gkiza is the newest member of the Ink On Paper<\/a><\/strong> community, which highlights visual artists whose primary media of expression are ink and paper.<\/p>

Christina Gkiza is a self-taught visual artist whose work explores the urban environment\u2014its forms, textures, and layered hidden meanings. She was born in Athens in 1988, where she currently lives and works. She began painting in 2013 during her stay in Wales. Since then, her art has been in constant evolution; she has participated in group exhibitions and held three solo shows. Cities move and change, paint fades on building walls, new colors cover the old. The ephemeral nature of the city is deeply captivating and serves as an endless source of inspiration for the artist. \u201cBeauty is all around us\u201d is her core motto\u2014a principle that enables a fluid, perceptive visual exploration of urban beauty, often overlooked or underestimated. Her colorful works express a boundless appetite for life, along with the curiosity, thoughts, and humor that accompany her.<\/p>

In the artistic statement accompanying her participation in the community, Ms. Gkiza notes: “I explore various techniques and approaches, driven by a desire to create works with a strong aesthetic impact. My goal is for my paintings to present images that capture the eye, stimulate the mind, and provoke thoughts and emotions. A rich color palette, the use of fabric and paper, acrylic paints, other materials, and ink shape my work. Ink entered my art alongside my interest in typography and has become an integral part of my creative process. Lyrics, circles, and abstract images form the main themes of my most recent works in recent years, and ink is consistently present. Inspiration comes from everyday stimuli in urban life, and sometimes from travels to cities in other countries. Transforming inspiration into painting is, for me, a meditative process, a means of expressing the inner self, a form of communication with the viewer<\/em>.”<\/p>
