Art curator Paris Kapralos, in collaboration with visual artists from Greece and abroad, invites you to visit the exhibition \u201cNew Normal 4: The Silence of Nature\u201d and to honor us with your presence at its opening on Thursday, June 5, from 19:00 to 22:00.<\/p>

The exhibition takes place physically in Athens at the art gallery Chili Art Gallery (13\u201315 Dimofontos Street, Thiseio, Athens) and simultaneously online, in collaboration with ARTgrID (https:\/\/artgrid.gr).<\/p>

The exhibition explores the transformation of the human relationship with the natural environment through the lens of loss, resilience, and hope, highlighting the role of art as a medium of memory and awakening in an era of ecological crisis.<\/p>

Visitors will experience works of painting, sculpture, photography, and video art, making the visit to the exhibition a unique experience.<\/p>

As noted in the curatorial text: \u201cWhat does it mean to grow up in Greece near mountains, olive trees, and the sea? For a teenager in the 1990s, it meant independence, play, and contact with nature without fear. But for a child today, the answer is different: it means heatwaves that impose restrictions, forests turned to ashes, beaches filled with plastic, jellyfish, and invasive sea species that migrated to the Mediterranean due to violent climate change. The concept of \u2018resilience\u2019 is no longer a theory but a daily condition. The innocence we once knew is no longer a given. Children growing up in Greece in 2025 shape their experiences in an environment that is no longer taken for granted, but fragile and unstable. Climate is not just a weather report\u2014it is often a matter of survival.<\/em>
World Environment Day is not simply a calendar date, but a mirror of the changes the world\u2014and with it, childhood\u2014is undergoing. If this day holds value, it is because it urges us to reflect on the future we offer to children\u2014not with guilt, but with responsibility. To protect what remains and rebuild what has been lost. Because nature is no longer a given; and if we want it to exist tomorrow, we must act today.<\/em>
Within this context, the role of the visual artist is not merely to depict reality, but to express its silence, to awaken collective consciousness, and to open dialogues where silence or loss prevails. Today, art is called upon to act as a gesture of memory, responsibility, and imagination.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>

About the \u201cNew Normal\u201d exhibition series
Organized by ARTgrID and curated by Paris Kapralos, the \u201cNew Normal\u201d exhibition series is a long-term visual arts project that examines the effects of contemporary crises\u2014such as the pandemic, climate change, and social shifts\u2014on the human experience. Beginning in 2021 with the impact of the pandemic, each exhibition in the series functions as an autonomous chapter in a collective dialogue, where artists are invited to record, interpret, and reflect on the changing conditions of our time.<\/p>

About the Curator
Paris Kapralos is an Art Curator, Founder & Coordinator of ARC \u2013 Art Revisited Collective, publisher of Arts & Antiques CCR, and co-founder of ARTgrID. He was born in 1975 and raised in Athens, where he currently lives and works. Between 2008 and 2022, he lived in Northern Greece. He studied Economics (Athens) and Graphic Arts (Staffordshire, UK). He worked as a journalist specializing in technology for economic newspapers, magazines, and news agencies (1999\u20132006), and as an executive in business conference organization for the IT & Telecoms sector (2004\u20132011), before changing career paths and turning to Art in 2011.
