He was born in Athens in 1961 and has been engaged with the Fine Arts since 1981. With the guidance of several other visual artists and through sustained effort and meticulous study, he developed technical mastery and shaped his artistic style through a range of influences.  A major influence on his art was his work as a four-colour retoucher at ADAM Publications, where he collaborated with some of the leading painters. Over the years he has worked with various media, including but not limited to watercolour, oil painting and pencil. In recent years he has focused on stippling, which has become a defining element of his work. He has exhibited his work in two solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions, and his pieces are held in private collections. Dimitris Galanakis has been collaborating with the visual artists' collective ARC \u2013 Art Revisited Collective since May 2023.  The story behind the work The Water Dragon God: The dragon, spirit of the waters and guardian of balance, emerges amidst waves and silence. Cherry blossoms and the Torii gate frame the passage between the world of humans and the Gods. For viewers unfamiliar with Japanese tradition, the work conveys the coexistence of force and serenity, the power that originates in nature and returns to it. The Japanese inks, with their subtlety and rich tonal gradation, allowed water and light to acquire a living breath, turning the black surface into a space where the spirit moves freely."}
