She began painting at an early age, mentored by her father, a painter and sculptor, and was deeply influenced by the African art of the Yoruba and Igbo peoples. She continued painting in Greece before moving to Los Angeles in 1984, where, alongside studying Environmental Studies and working as a chef, she explored contemporary and abstract painting. Returning to Greece in 1992, she worked as a painter and creator of hand-painted signs and murals in Plaka, while studying icon painting and exploring colour and landscape. Central to her artistic identity is \u201cKaTaKaThy\u201d, a distinctive visual art project that transforms coffee grounds into a medium of expression.
