Statement

My artistic approach revolves around the concept of time, encompassing the past, the future, and images of memory. My method is visual archaeology, deconstructing pieces of visual cultural heritage. In the contemporary information environment, no object is as it seems; everything changes, enriched with new details. In my artistic practice, I create images of the permanent transformation of visual culture. I unfold this chronological structure, revealing layer by layer the strata of the past. I see unity and beauty in each detail, whether it’s pieces of newspapers, magazines, various advertisements, or receipts. All of these are contradictory, paradoxical means that shape and nourish our imagination. In this context, accepting the works of earlier painters is not so much a tribute to the greats as an opportunity to reconsider our relationship with them. It’s about seeing them not just as a fixed value but as an opportunity for archaeological analysis. Today, thanks to the internet, we have access to countless images, and among them, we find reproductions of great masterpieces. But they are no longer isolated. Their works on the screen are placed within various internal, social, and cultural contexts. They are no longer simple images but phenomena of visual culture. Placed on a flat surface in the form of post-painting images, enhanced by everyday objects, they seem to be assembled by our vision. It’s the subjective gaze that gives them an overall atmosphere in which they change but remain recognizable.I use collage and decollage techniques as a metaphorical tool. For me, it’s a way to express emotions, to stay in touch with the continuous flow of information, to be immersed in this flow. It’s an ocean, an infinite, nurturing environment where we gather piece by piece the image of our own visual culture. I work with analog materials. I find it intriguing how they continue to function, even as digital platforms become increasingly dominant. For example, the paper I use in my work carries the daily flow of information. We don’t even think about how many notes and tickets accompany us in our daily lives, storing information and lives. Paper is such a ubiquitous medium that it could serve as a mirror of the collective unconscious. A trace of mechanical actions leading to automation.
